Mekong Delta

Mekong Delta has an area of 39,734 km². It is located adjacent to the Southeast, the North borders Cambodia, the South West is the Gulf of Thailand, the South East is the East Sea. Located adjacent Ho Chi Minh City, Mekong Delta is a special economic-cultural area of the South.

The Mekong Delta is the common name of the western provinces. There are 12 provinces with 1 city namely: Bac Lieu, An Giang, Ca Mau, Ben Tre, Hau Giang, Dong Thap, Long An, Kien Giang, Tien Giang, Soc Trang, Vinh Long, Tra Vinh and Can Tho city. Although this land is not as luxurious as any other lands but Mekong Delta always brings peace and tranquility to visitors first coming here.

The humid tropical climate with equatorial equilibrium is evident. The annual average temperature is 24 to 27 degree C. The difference in day and night temperature is low. Mekong Delta has little storm or weather disturbance. There are two distinct seasons, the rainy season is from May to October, rainfall accounts for 99% of the total rainfall of the year, the dry season is from December to April next year, almost no rain.

Each season has its own beauty as well as its own characteristics that do not always appear. However, many people choose summer as the starting point of the trip because it is the season of the fruit trees that create a lot of inspiration to visitors to visit the gardens.

Consolidated by the fertile silt of the Mekong River with two main tributaries of the Tien and Hau Rivers, the intricate canal system, green forests, islands, a diverse ecosystem have been formed the Mekong Delta beautiful and attractive landscape. There are national parks, bird sanctuaries, botanical gardens with countless birds and precious plants and animals such as: Tram Chim National Park, Thap Muoi Stork Ground (Dong Thap); National Park of Phu Quoc (Kien Giang); Vam Ho bird sanctuary (Ben Tre); Bac Lieu bird sanctuary; National parks U Minh Thuong and U Minh Ha, Nam An mangrove forest, Cha La bird sanctuary, Dam Doi, Ngoc Hien (Ca Mau) ... The Mekong Delta also attracts visitors with many colorful flower gardens and many kinds of fruit trees, such as Sa Dec (Sa Pa), Thanh Tam (Long An), Cai Mon (Ben Tre), ... Floating markets in the early morning Phung Hiep (Hau Giang), Cai Be (Tien Giang), Nga Nam (Soc Trang) ... or islets with year round full of sunshine, fresh nature like Phung, Quy, Tien (Ben Tre), My Phuoc (Soc Trang), Thoi Son (Tien Giang) ... are also a very special characteristic feature of the Nam Bo River.

In addition, the traditional folk festivals have unique cultural identities such as Sam Mount Lady Festival, Ook om bok festival, boat race,  the Seven Mountain traditional festival of bull race and the characteristics of the Southern people: friendliness and hospitality also attract visitors a lot.

Spending time on traveling to Mekong Delta, visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy the typically traditional folk arts of the river such as Cai Luong, music and dance of the Khmer… In particular, Mekong Delta is also the place to practice and develop the art form of Southern Song Dynasty art - the intangible cultural heritage of humanity representative which has been recognized by UNESCO.
